Al Sharq Documents: Fouziya Al-Obaidly, the Second Qatari Female Lawyer on the Practicing Roll

Al Sharq newspaper published an extended report on the history of the legal profession in Qatar and Qatari women's entry into the field, in an interview with lawyer Amina Al-Mansoori.

The report documents that in 2000, lawyer Haifa Al-Baker was registered as the first Qatari female lawyer, followed by lawyer Fouziya Saleh Al-Obaidly on the roll of practicing lawyers — the birth of Qatar's first women lawyers, making Al-Obaidly the second Qatari female lawyer in the profession's history.

The report notes that Qatari women's entry into the profession marks a notable evolution, with their numbers growing steadily to nearly 29 female lawyers at the time of publication.
